Everett Performance Omnium
(The EPO)

There are three different criterium courses this year and they can be found here. A criterium is a short, technical bike race where racers routinely exceed 25+ miles per hour - the Elite fields will be exceeding 30+ MPH at times!

Riding safely and in close quarters with a group of bikes that are going fast requires skill and stamina. Criteriums (also known as “Crits”) have corners, and cornering is critical to a racer’s success. The ability to efficiently get around the turns and hold a line directly impacts how much effort they’ll have to put out to stay with the pack. All three courses have some elevation change, and any hill makes for a dynamic feature throughout the race.

Racing is broken out between men and women by skill level (1-5, with 1 being the professional level), often racing in category groups, and there are also some age brackets (Junior, Masters, etc.). Each race is a timed event and is managed by the Race Officials. There are ten (10) races planned for each course.

Feel free to ask questions of racers or volunteers, many of whom are also racers who have either already raced or are waiting for their race. If they don’t have the answers, they will try to direct you to those who can answer your questions.

There will be food trucks and other vendors on hand at the Riverside and Grand courses to try and create a festival atmosphere. There will be an announcer with a public address system commentating on the live action during the races and engaging the public. If you have a local volunteer group that would like to be part of the racing weekend and would like to set-up a table, please reach out. We would love to make space for you and help promote the community.

Weather

July is typically the heart of the season that we all agree not to tell anyone who doesn’t live here about. The morning and evening races might be a bit cool, with temperatures that can be much warmer in the afternoon so it’s always good to do the “layers” thing.

And since we are in Everett, one of the layers should probably be windproof and water resistant…

Food Trucks

She’s Got Bowls is coming back for a second year in a row! We’re very excited to have them back again this year and hope you are too. There will also be either Loz Perez (Saturday) or La Luna Family Bistro (Sunday) out on course to help satisfy your food cravings.

We’re proud to have these local businesses on site to support our racers and fans. Please consider patronizing them to show your appreciation!
